NEW YORK (AP) — Convicted pharmaceutical government Martin Shkreli was freed Wednesday from jail following serving a lot of a seven-12 months jail sentence for lying to hedge fund investors and dishonest traders in a drug corporation.
His attorney, Ben Brafman, explained Shkreli, 39, was unveiled early from a prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania. The shift was confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
“I am delighted to report that Martin Shkreli has been launched from Allenwood jail and transferred to a BOP midway home right after finishing all programs that allowed for his jail sentence to be shortened,” Brafman explained.
Shkreli was moved to a halfway residence overseen by the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ New York Residential Reentry Management Office, the bureau said in a statement.
The Bureau of Prisons said Shkreli’s projected launch day from federal custody was Sept. 14.
Brafman reported he has encouraged Shkreli to make no statements, and the law firm prepared no reviews outside of confirming Wednesday’s moves.
